Coffee Talk
Have you ever thought about writing your life story? Have you ever wondered where to begin, or what to do once you have finished? Representatives from the Joplin Writers Guild will be at the Joplin Public Library’s July Coffee Talk program to discuss “The Art of Memoir - why to do it; how to do it; and what to do with it once it’s done.” This program, "Composing Your Memoirs", will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7 at the Library. The program is free and open to the public - a library card is not necessary to attend. Free coffee from Columbia Traders will be provided. Coffee Talk is a monthly program at the Library and is held on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am, and features a program of general interest to their patrons. Camp Wildcat Summer Day Camp
Do you have a young naturalist at home? Help cultivate that interest in nature by having them attend the outdoor summer camp at the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center Tuesday, July 7 – Friday, July 10 from 8:00-11:30 am. Led by professional naturalists with over 8 years of day camp experience, participants will meet at the Center each morning before heading outdoors to explore various habitats including glades, woodlands, streams, and even a cave, to learn about the plants and animals that live there. A child to adult ratio of at least 10:1 ensures a safe and educational experience. Children should be in good physical condition and able to hike 3 miles in summer weather. We will provide a snack, or they may bring their own. For the convenience of working parents, we will provide supervision from 7:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Late fees will be charged at the rate of $1/minute after 12:00. Registration is required for all programs at the Audubon Center. Space is limited and fills up quickly. Application deadline is May 29. Cost of the camp is $55 per child and is for ages 8-11. Hummingbirds: Flying Jewels

Recipe for a Chert Glade
Come learn about the unique chert glade ecosystem found right here in the Joplin area and the steps being taken to restore the glade to its natural state, including prescribed fire at the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center from 2:00-3:00 pm. Participants will discover delicate mats of lichens, mosses, and colorful wildflowers native to the ecosystem and root out a few invasive plants that are trying to move in. 24th Annual MDA Ride for Life
The 24th Annual MDA Ride for Life will be held July 10 & 11. Children's Storyteller Jo Ho
The Joplin Public Library will be hosting Children's Storyteller Jo Ho on July 13 from 2:30-3:15 pm and again at 3:30-4:15 pm. Jo invited youngsters to write a story about an ordinary event in their lives and encouraged them to "get creative" with their story and S-T-R-E-T-C-H it a bit as all good writers do.
